Bitter Good Bye

Her screams echo through your mind.

You see her lifeless body,

a pool of blood,

her suicide note.

You blame yourself,

if only you saw the signs.

You blame her,

if only she reached out to you.

You blame her wicked family,

destroyed her innocence,

broke her spirits,

brought her closer to death.

Your shaking hands reach for the note

The corners spotted with her blood.

The note is addressed to you.

Her parents assault you

shouts of blame.

You open the tainted note.

"You are my best friend, I love you so much. Please don’t blame yourself for this. My parents tore me apart until there was no sense of emotional attachment to be found inside of me. I felt no pain when I went, I knew life after suicide, after this purgatory, would be paradise to me."

You’re shaking

and fall to your knees.

To you, she is everything,

to the world she is just a number

on the growing list of teen suicide,

soon you will be too.
