Birmingham Black Angels

Innocence were their names

In a child's place they were to be

Wrong place, wrong time

Some would say to thee...

It was just another day

Another day riddled with injustice, segregation

All throughout the nation

But, girls do not worry

You did not die in vain

Blood in veins began to boil

Truth be told and be it bold

Your deaths were a mold for change

Just like your memorial says...

"The tragic loss of each one of you led to the end of an era"

The error of fear remained no more

You're little "sheros" in your own light

Take flight

Addie Mae, Carole, Cynthia, and Denise

You have done your job, earned your wings

Now, the knob of change has been forever turned
