Better Than You

Why do we want to be better than others
when we should truly try to be better than ourselves?
We need to love our neighbors rather than have better lawns than them.
A beach body will not define how good a person is,
a contribution to society will.
There is nothing good that comes from a large desire for competition.
It turns brother against brother,
friend against friend,
team against team,
and for what?
A trophy?
A title?
Nothing of that has any worth in life.
Medals can be made for any reason.
What can;t be man-made is the feeling of good in your heart when you help someone
or even say "i'm sorry."
Why compete when we can love?
Just accept that we are different
and we all have strengths and weaknesses.
No one person is truly better than another,
so why can't we stop competing?
Why don't we?
