For the Better

The world is full of change;

Some good, some bad.

My heart is full of change,

Which may seem bad

But always takes a turn for the better.

I want to think, to feel, to be,

But only change will bring this to me;

Only change will bring this to all.

I want to eliminate the struggles,

Eliminate the unemployment

And the illegal drugs,

The wrongful convictions

And protests against funerals.

That is it,

That is what I want.

I want to rid all the world of

Funeral protests.

Take away the hate

That comes with the tapping,

Twisting and burning.

I want to remove their pain,

The pain they feel.

The pain that stems from

Their religious belief of an afterlife

And causes their mind to run screaming

In a train of endless distressing thoughts.

They begin to think,

To feel with their very souls

That their loved ones are weeping

In heaven or as a ghost,

Or whatever their beliefs suggest.

These thoughts pull their minds

Into an inescapable abyss

Of depression and anxiety --

All from watching corruption.

All of this from watching corrupted people

March back and forth across

A graveyard, waving their

Criticisms in the air as if

They were law.

While protest is right,

While protest began this country,

No one -- and I mean no one --

Should be forced to see their

Loved ones' grave trampled over

And defiled by those who insult

Them while they lie still in their grave,

Silently hoping the end will come and

Swallow them whole.
