Behind the Make-up
Everyday I look into the mirror
a stanger stares back at me
if only they could see me clearer
and hear my plea
The inner me shines through the cracks
while trying to act
The inner me loves snacks
and painting abstract
while the others try to fill up my cracks
and push me down
the inner me attacks
and refuses to drown
For inside me
is a person most people have never met
a person free
and just a little bit offset
The inner me rarely gets to shine
but when it does I toe the line
Between cool and uncool
and I think to myself
in this public school
there is no reason to prove oneself
for the inner me and inner you
is happiness, who knew
