Behind Her Eyes

She gazes blankly at the wall,
pondering what to do next.
Is this her final curtain call?
All because of one heartless text?

She sits there tapping her fingers against her knee,
just thinking more and more about her decision,
What will become of me?
What if I do make this incision?

If only her friends would've listened
to her qualms and cries,
maybe they would've envisioned
the crushed soul behind her eyes.

One less angel here with us,
may she rest in peace in the ground,
all these feelings her friends are trying to suppress,
all of them living with lifelong regrets.
