Behind the Curtain
Location
The curtain is pulled back.
Time to begin acting.
But no butterflies, no stage fright.
I am comfortable playing this part, for I do it often.
Acting is natural by now.
I have become my part, which is what only best actors can do.
I have no fans, no one realizes how good I am.
But that's how I like it- anonymous.
I can shake any feeling when I'm acting.
Nausea? Gone. Mental breakdown? They can't know. Crumbling, dying inside? Not a sign.
I won't allow my audience to know if anything is wrong,
since that's what actors do, right?
I love my job; acting is my passion now.
But the audience is my friends
and the stage never ends
and the curtain is the sheet of my bed.
So I pull back the curtain and play the part.
