Becoming Me

My little belly kicks have turned into footsteps,

My frilly dresses have become crisp skirt suits,

My 2+2s have turned into long mathematical equations,

My small questions have turned into pondering thoughts,

My physical narrowness has turned into my mental breadth,

My old insecurities have become my strength,

My late night inquiries have become my passions,

And the God of my hope, my satisfaction,

My whines have turned into songs,

And my cloak of heaviness into surmounting joy,

My childish silhouette has turned into a flourishing woman,

And my toothless smile into a mouth full of world changing ideas,

My inabilities have become my amenities,

My obstacles have become my stepping blocks,

And my limiting factors now one of the greatest factors of my success,

My present has become my past, and my future has become my now,

My view has widened, and my smile has broadened,

My shoulders stand prouder than ever before, And all my lifted hands and smiling lips can say is “thank you, Lord!”
