Because I love you, and if you loved me.
Text messages and nudes have taken over relationships and we, as it seems, have bypassed chivalry or even just decency. Cute long paragraphs and roses used to distract from unapologetically hideous actions. We feed the green eyed monster and deem it cute, until it consumes you. After what feels like bliss from the first couple months of togetherness slowly turns into outrageous demands lead by “well if you loved me you would…” Manipulation swept under the rug and deemed a crazy accusation. Preying upon innocence and full hearts like lions and zebras. The perfect love does not live in the movies, nor does it live in the real world. The perfect love does not exist. But when did manipulation made up for by lies become acceptable? Love is acceptance of the other. Knowing all the flaws and still loving them the same. It's supporting and helping who you're with. It is both holding their hand and guiding them through the storm and holding their hand at the triumphant end of a success. It's knowing even though you fought they won't leave because of you. Its learning how to deal with your problems together. Love is a partnership, not two people pinned against each other. It's getting them one too because you love them, not threatening them or others. Love is a garden to be cultivated, not the bullet in your gun you use against them.
