Tattered books
Versus frightening looks
Don’t judge my teachers
By their features.

How can we be equal if we are separate?
If we are equal, why must my books be second rate?
If we are equal, why must we continue the debate?
If we are equal, why does your lab have a microscope?

While in my lab I just have to cope
With broken flask and menial task.
My skin color nor my thinking skills are inferior.
The way that I look, think, and perform are just as superior.

While you may build private schools,
I know the real rules.
I am equal and should not be separate.

Integrate! Integrate! Integrate!

Because I am first rate.
First rate scholar.
First rate student.

Brown turned it around.
Brown said not only do you deserve the best,
But so do the rest.

Because of Brown, I can study around
Red, yellow, black, and white.
And now all my dreams are in sight!
I have already taken flight.

Brown, let me tell you
You are all right!
