To the Beat of My Own Tune

Once upon a time, in a backwards snapback hat,

Blowing bubblegum in her sneakershoes, a 90's girl brat.

It was my first day of school and  I sure didn't want to go,

But Dad walked me accross the playground, saying; "This is how we grow."

So I danced to the beat of my own little tune,

Now i'm off to college from the spaceship to the moon.

Turn that music higher, put some makeup on and my new cute clothes,

New boys to desire, friends to inspire, and an image I must compose.

I work hard to play hard, good grades are on their way,

My dad would be so proud, for my futures on display.

The medical field sparks a glow into my blue eyes,

It fits me so perfect like my old sneakershoe size.

Laughing back at the times I harrassed my teachers in class,

Amused by the spotlight, my dance always had some sass.

I've grown so much from that cute brat in the past,

Now i'm a woman with a future, finally AT LAST!
