To Be a Flower

I would love

To forget my thoughts

Shed my mind

Leave my problems far behind

And be a flower

No one would hurt you

No one would scare

No one would bother

No one dare

You simply exist and grow in the breeze

The sun always shining

The birds that sing

But winter comes

It frets and it frightens

And forced a flower to heighten

It’s strength and try to bear the days

Of cold sadness and the lack of rays

Perhaps it is better

Not to be a flower

For people are stronger

And we stand a chance

Against the cold dark winter

And the coarse dry sands

But still to be a flower

And to be free

Plagues my thoughts

And eats at me
