Bare feet

i want to take my shoes off.

my toes are aching to breath.

rubber and lace and material sufocate my feet.

i want cool grass to comfort my soles or sand to sink in between my toes.

i want my flesh to touch the ground, run free with innocence and pure joy coursing through my veins.

i slide my restrictions off and feel warm cement come into contact.

so much desire is in my heart,

but the concrete sokes the hope from it.

i'm surrounded.

cement, rocks, dirt, and asphalt create my world.

my poor feet.
