A prisoner of my own mind,
Obscure is thoughts all born,
Beginning as a simple idea,
Into a recurring thought well adored.
An only friend to satisfy,
Our humblest request.
A little pain to shade the guilt,
But we’ve become obsessed.
Spinning secrets woven,
Into webs not spider made,
“They” all become strangers,
And with loneliness we’re paid.
We keep you closest to us,
Because without you we can’t feel,
Leaving us with memorable scars,
After the scabs have peeled.
But lately I’ve been wondering,
How lovely life would be,
If I didn’t have to rely on you,
To hide what others can’t perceive.
