Autumn

Leaves scatter across the pavement in the wind that blows me home.
I am light as a feather, brown boots with brown sticks trudging through the breeze - tired.
Listening to the scuttling sounds from the lost fingers of the trees, I think.
I think about the lonely branches losing all their companions, and the leaves' fear as they tumble into gutters and sewers.
I understand them.
I feel the same way.
Oftentimes I'm blown down the drain by the storms.
Oftentimes I'm left bare and alone.

Leaves scatter across the pavement in the wind that blows me home.
I'm light as a feather, soaring above the heads of the crowds- energetic.
This time I'm ready for change.
