Automobiles

  • In the current technological era on planet earth
  • Automobiles carry the majority of the population
  • Multiple ton machines melt monotony with motion
  • Providing mankind with a tireless quest for perfection
  •
  • However seeing as many view the car as an essential
  • We somehow form a relationship with our machines
  • With a motor for a heart and a computer for a brain
  • Partners to their human counterparts in daily routines
  •
  • Either know by make and model or custom nickname
  • Our means of transportation show status and prestige
  • So we express ourselves with bumper stickers and decals
  • And hopefully impress others with our driving expertise
  •
  • An experienced motorist sees driving as a subliminal task
  • Sometimes experiencing amnesia for his time en route
  • A speaker system takes his mind off the hum of the road
  • So he joins the dance and gives into cerebral blackout
  •
  • A license is required for entry onto the lined dance floor
  • Along with valid plates, working lights and insurance
  • While participating in the dance the rules are simple
  • Stay in the lane, maintain speed, and signal movements
  •
  • During a late night solo, performers experience freedom
  • So long as law enforcement doesn't observe an infraction,
  • They are able to roam without regard for their rear view
  • For upon this journey there is little outward interaction
  •
  • Everyday countless strangers make shaky eye contact
  • While sitting stopped a few feet apart at a traffic light
  • Forced into trusting each other to maneuver correctly
  • Seeing as a crash could cause an explosion to ignite
  •
  • When superfluous dancers join a traffic jam is formed
  • Trapped in a cage forged of other prisoners around
  • As the front dictates, the chain gang inches along
  • Until finally they can spread and become unbound
  •
  • So learn the rules and join the ballet for automobiles
  • Care for and customize your combustion fueled carriers
  • Be thankful the pavement is not filled with anarchy
  • And always check your blind spots and both mirrors
