Anticipation

We think we can accomplish it all

Up until we take a minor fall

We settle for less than our potential

We can do anything imaginable, recall

Be world known, our aspirations

We will get wrapped up in anticipation

Waiting, for what

All the same problems, stuck in this rut

Why do we feel better than generations behind us

Our parents gave us their trust

To be better than them, but why

No real faith in our selves, why try

We give up like our parents once did

We have time, we are but kids

Putting faith in future generations

Passing on our once highest self-expectations

We are the generation

Lost in much anticipation

Our parents said the same things

We are not new, nor cunning

We think we can accomplish it all

Until we slip up, recall

Your letting them down, they can’t look back

Pay attention, we follow their tracks
