Anointed Blade

Location

You handed it to me

As the snow fell around us,

Clinging to the fur of my hood.

Hesitant, I reached out,

Taking the pink and silver tool.

Pulling the silver,

The blade opened up, smooth, so smooth,

Shining and mirror-like.

Except I didn't see me looking back

But all that I could do.

I looked up at you then

Eyes asking:

Why?

"I trust you."

After all he knew about me,

He trusted me...

And with my history,

Push back the images, push them down

Yet the words had fallen with the snow.

With two hands I closed the blade

And then my eyes.

He may have trust in me,

But I didn't. Far from it.
