angel of the tree

Blowing in the wind the leaves of a tree

etched on its trunk hearts and names for the public to see

sitting underneath a young man in red

thinking about life while his heart poured and bled

he was trying to get through his rough start to life

with the hopes of meeting one to whom he may call wife

still he remains positive, enjoying the little things he finds in the moment

while keeping his sadness ever so dormant

but all was about to change

for when he awoke he felt quite strange

with the feeling of greatness making him want to be his best

making him want to stand out from the rest

he changed his ways and went on to learn

with an attitude that is sure not to burn.

 he  became a great success

yet curiously inside he was still a mess

he realized when signing the bill to his new address

he had not changed one bit

the phone sounded when he began to sit

it was his boss whom said the thing no man wants to hear

the businessman's worst fears

"well our budget is low" he said

as he continued, the news progressively made him feel more dead

he realized he was still lonely but after the phone call, even fired

he pushes thru sleepless nights growing ever more tired

he thinks "I can do it" "I've fought thru before"

but deep down he knows,  regardless what he has in store.

feeling hopeless he looks for escape

he stumbles into a bar and the tender tells him to wait

with a hand to his cheek, he looks to his right

amazed he sees a girl that fills him with delight

with eyes like sapphires which are flawless.

he quietly thinks to himself, she could probably care less

the tender returns and gives him his drink

while he discretely looks  at the girl in pink

he finishes and the tender asks for the money

he reaches in his pocket and realizes he hasn't got a penny

slowly he turns to the tender with a face evoking dread,  opening his mouth

"I got it for this fine man in red!" she interrupts from behind his shoulder

the goddess is here, she does care

speechless and awed he couldn't help but stare

she smiles  bright as a diamond and asks his name

they go on a walk and giving her his coat in the pouring rain

he asks her when's the next time they'll talk

months go by and he thinks "all this because of a silly old walk"

he asks her as they sit under a tree

Translation: "WILL YOU MARRY ME?"

she says yes

as the blowing leaves make a mess

the tree branch breaks and takes away the only thing that made him smile.

nothing made him happier for that while.

he sat there under the tree as he began to cry

asking WHY?? oh WHY???

however she awoke

and when she spoke she said "don't forget this when I'm dead"

"I love you now let that be clear"

"but this is exactly what I fear"

"we are all put on this earth for a reason and my reason was to save you"

he yelled "this is not the end we can still pull thru!"

her eyes close and he carries her to the ambulance car

unfortunately for her the hospital was quite far

..........................................................

etching their names in the tree he looks around

believing to have heard a beautiful sound

he is grasped at the waist by familiar hands

he turns and there she proudly stands

she asks "what do you think?" in her confident stance

he says as his heart starts to sink.  "I think everyone deserves a second chance"
