An angel awaits

An angel awaits
Laying there a smile crept on her face
My heart feels a tugging sensation
I can't believe the moment has come.
My life leading to this moment flashed before my eyes

An angel awaits
As I reach out my arms to hold her
Afraid to damage her precious wings
Instantly her smile takes a hold of my soul
Clutched in my arms her eyes are stained in innocence

An angel awaits
Untainted by the horrors of this world
She will be my gentle reminder of what's important
For I will watch over her and guide her
And she will remind me to take nothing for granted
An angel awaits all the joy and love I have to give
An angel sent by God; with me she shall live.
