America

America is a beautiful place.

We are freedom embodied,

Not always the most perfect,

Nor the most beautiful,

But we are strong as a country.

We have seen horrors,

Not constant,

Not unrelenting.

Our horrors last in another way.

America is brave.

We stand together through thick and thin.

We aren't always the strongest,

But we are always together.

Through 9/11,

When the twin towers fell.

Through Sandy Hook,

When guns were almost banned.

Through the bombing of Boston,

When the perpetrators lived amongst us.

It's not the easiest thing to do,

Living in America,

But we remain.

We protect and we prevent.

We stay strong and don't relent.

This is America.
