Alone but Not Lonely

Alone but Not Lonely

By Augustus Quaicoe

 Sonnet I

Alone but not lonely

When all is said and done

and I’m left to myself only

 when everyone is gone

When unending troubles, life seem

my mind, wonder yonder in despair

And each passing time like a dream

I ponder on the fleeting moments of life, like air

Alone I sit, watching twinkling stars all night long

Butterflies settle on me only when I sit calm

dancing to symphony in my head, I sing myself a song

I realize that all life‘s a psalm

When you see me walk alone

Just know, I’m alone but not lonely

Sonnet II

Alone but not lonely

no soothing breasts to suckle

at a time of melancholy

slowly I redraw to my cradle

when my soul is forlorn

I take solace in solitude

no shoulder to cry on

O how I long being away from the multitude

At a time of perfect meditation

Detached from the elation of cheers

In my moment of reflection

My mistakes, doubts and tears

When you see me walk alone

Just know, I’m alone but not lonely

Sonnet III

alone but not lonely

O, how good it feels to be alone

to spend time with oneself, only

Detached from the hustle and bustle of life, unknown

I have no friend on the outside

A world full of charlatans

of betrayal, envy and foolish pride

a desert world of thorns and skeletons

worthless men who do not know their left from right

Men with no sense of their own

So hostile to the upright

So on the sands of time, I choose to walk alone

When you see me walk alone

Just know, I’m alone but not lonely

Sonnet IV

Alone, perpetually let me rest

In my inner world of love so special

Alone I enjoy Serenity at its best

Power, wealth, infinite potential

I see brilliant beings unseen

when I withdraw into quiescence

Priceless company comes only from within

Priceless counsel creep slowly to my ears in the breeze of silence

When life bruises hurt badly

Even my shadow forsakes me whenever I walk into the dark

From within comes comfort so mildly

Against all odds, I leave my timeless mark

When you see me walk alone

Just know, I’m alone but not lonely

Sonnet V

There’s a friend so true from the day I was born

Ever speaking to me

From the break of dawn

Ever walking by me

From deep within, GOD gives to us

Answer to all life’s mystery

Full of light I sparkle like the stars

To love oneself is life mastery

At a time of turbulence

There is no treat so sweet,

No comfort so cooling

No counsel so complete

No solace so soothing

Compared to the precious time I spend alone.
