All for The Red, White and Blue

ALL FOR THE RED WHITE AND BLUE
BY MIRA WILDER

He caught the Plane
the Flag was high
Mom and Dad
were waving goodbye
and the Girl He Loved
was breaking down
it was too late
to turn around,
all for the Red White and Blue

They said he had a Future with the First Attack
but the Boys were using Bullets instead of Caps
conditioned him to hide the Fear,
it was his Duty
for another Year
all for the Red White and Blue

Every letter from Takrit
to the Girl He Loved
mixed with Blood and Sweat.
Talked about the time he was Coming Home
Just one more Tour
and he'd be fine
every Picture sent
from Afghanistan
showed Mom and Dad
he'd grown into a Man
all for the Red White and Blue

When he lost his Leg
it wasn't much
at least he wasn't out of touch
when he lost his Arm
he didn't scream, he was in Shock
but it didn't mean a damn thing
Alive but frail
his Medals told the Tale
he'd served God, The President
and his Country well
He was ready to live The American Dream...
all for the Red White and Blue
all for the Red White and Blue
