Air Quality Alert

Plastic in the ocean,

Fields lay barren

A child stares on

As they learn

What humanity truly is

And what they truly do.

No one bats an eye but them

Shaken in their belief

That humanity might be good

But yet

How could they be?

This world is truly dying

As they soon shall learn

Dying by humanities hand

Pollution at every turn

“Air Quality Alert”

They look at their phone

Learning of pollution in their area

Not yet sure how to feel

They sit and stare outside

Watching bottles and paper go by

The wind carries them along

and their phone goes off again

another alert, warning people not

to go outside

And that’s when they learn

How can they remain a child

In a world this dark and cruel

In this world where we kill our home

And no one older does anything

To help save our one and only world?
