“Joy”

My mothers name means JOY.

She brings a smile to my face every time she would sing me to sleep.

She brings JOY when she makes me Chapathis by hand, and roasts them over a slow flame.

The light in my life, the reason I’m here.

I cry when I think in a few years I won’t be able to see her daily anymore.

I cherish every second of warmth when in her embrace.

I love seeing her smile and laugh at my humor, even if it isn’t that good.

When the going gets tough, she is tougher. She is my world, there is nothing she wouldn’t do for me.

When I was 15, she cried in my arms when her mom died. I stayed strong and moments later cried by myself.

She doesn’t know that part.

She gave me my name meaning LOVE.

Never ending LOVE for my mother.

She works hard to keep food in our house and JOY in our head.

She accepts me when no one else would.

When the kids at school hurt me, and hurt me, and hurt me, I run home to my mothers arms and under her breath she sings a nurturing tune.

She shows me what it means to be human

She shows me that whatever is wrong with world, we can fix.

She shows me what it means to have JOY

She shows me that when I run out of air, that I can breathe, even when I think I can’t

She is my mother and I LOVE her.
