My Mother is my Scar
My mother is my scar
A mark that reminds me
That I’ll never be successful
In what I want to be
Whether it is music
Whether it is theater
She always treats me
Like I’m nothing to her
With Harvard kids
With prestigious jobs
She compares me to them
Makes me want to sob
Every feeling I expressed
She shot them down by like a gun
Accusing me like I’m just
Her disrespectful son
Every dream I had
Has been run over like a car
A car named Mom
Who gave me a scar
