Youth Rise as Leaders Squabble

12 percent of me is in the moment,

15 is withdrawn,

Because 30 is wasted on stress,

And 43 wants to right all the wrongs.

Our world seems to be fading,

Split apart at the seams

Us students will inherit your baggage,

And this life doesn’t line up with our dreams.

So we start to form our opinions,

Protest peacefully in the streets

Our tolerance is starting to empty,

But we are told to go back to our seats.

They say we’re too young to know the world,

That we’ll just get in the way

But if we’re affected by your injustice,

We’re old enough to have a say

High school is supposed to be good

Our youth should be carefree

But those joys have been sacrificed

Because the people are on their knees

This poem is about:
My country
