An Ode to Those Lost

Thu, 01/30/2020 - 08:55 -- SaraBR

Lift your spirits

Even when they are heavy

One can only sail the seas

When the boat’s mast is steady

Keep looking forward

Even when you can only look to the past

Holding onto the numerous regrets

Only restrain you from being apart of the cast

Lend an ear not only to others

Even when deaf to your tongue

Listen to the soft humming of your dreams

A song that has already been sung

Open your eyes to see the world

Even when sight is consumed by bright screens

Perhaps seeing that not all trees touch the sky

It can lead you to other means

A radiant yet soft spring sun

A crisp breeze cradling your cheek

There will always be a path to travel

Everyone will reach their peak

So this is an ode to those lost

To remind that there is always something new

No matter the foliage that tangles

There will always be a place for you
