Ice rinks glisten in the winter sky

As wind becomes cold as the arctic

Snowflakes fall on eyelashes

And hair slowly becomes white

Anticipation builds as you first step on the ice

A gasp of air and a hold of breath as your back arches’ preparing to fall

Soon you’re on the ice

Where,

Children laugh

Shining teeth are seen for miles

Couples hold hands

And

Beginners hold railings

Swoosh

Swoosh

You get a handle of the ice

You’re mind becomes free of all thoughts

And you keep your balance

Gliding against the fresh ice

A sense of freedom comes

As the breeze flows through your hair

And soon,

You become the only person on the ice

Gliding your pure heart away
