A Sirens New Tale

Years ago, in days of old,

They prowled in the deep night.

Dark,cold,

hunting seamen to an endless fright.

Seen but never found,

Can’t help but ponder,

What they would do if they were around.

As members of modern society

They would still stay in pods.

Creatures of mischief leading to a lack of sobriety,

Yet beating all the odds.

Destroying the fish markets using success

And knowledge of the sea.

Even so, they would still be oppressed,

Some even wanting to flea.

The return of segregation sweeps the nation,

Their songs ring with pain.

A beautiful life with a broken foundation,

Yet their voices are heard in vain.

You would like to believe these creatures would be full of glee,

And treated as equals,

But all i can really see,

Is simply more historical sequels.

Our stories and myths should stay

In their own history

Down by the bay

Society would never accept,

 their mysterious life ways.

They would attack these people with disrespect,

So, do we all see what this portrays?
