Black Icarus

Trying to leave a city behind is harder than it seems

Going too far away from home is like the sun's gleam on his wings

Father warning him not to leave, but he has a trick up his sleeves

Trying to fly high like a dove, flying like an angel through Heaven's gate

The places he's trying to reach, reaching his end at an alarming rate

The color of his skin in this world makes it harder to fly

He dreams big and flies to the sun, the journey just begun

They take his wings

His father warned him not to fly too high, a black dot in the blue sky

Falling back down to Earth, his body now being carried in a hearse.
