The Ticking Clock
Tick tock, tick tock,
the light fell upon the clock.
At the break of dawn,
the child first yawned.
Opening their eyes
which first saw the clock,
hearing the noise
tick tock, tick tock.
Time has passed,
the child has grown
The child now has a child of their own.
Tick tock, tick tock,
looking up to the clock,
the day’s half over,
the weight on his shoulder’s-heavy boulders.
A dark shadow,
with a scythe in his hands,
xonnected to the shadow
of the now older man.
Tick tock, tick tock,
no time can tell
when the hands will stop
and soon become still.
One last look
above to the clock,
twelve rings,
time is done.
Tick tock, tick tock,
staring at the clock,
the lights dimmed down
as the hands lingered still.
