Dear Insecurities

You show me who I am

And more importantly who I’m not.

You show me what I don’t have

More often than what I’ve got.

You alter others’ perception of me

And even how I see myself.

But I’ll write my own future,

An empty canvas sitting on the shelf.

From now on it will be different.

Clearly I have changed.

I am tired of what you say

A new confidence I have attained

You show me my scars from when I fell

But I see the stories they will tell

You show me that I’m worthless

But I look at me and see a purpose

You call me unworthy, undeserving,

But you are completely clueless.

I realize that I am not perfect,

But stop trying to convince me I am useless
