To a poem

You used to be
my only sibling;
an ear to hear,
and a hug to feel.

You used to know
my secrets and fears,
until the day
I kept all my tears.

I misused your trust,
comfort that you gave;
I ignored my guts-
it told me to stay.

I was ashamed,
I was to blame,
I thought I earned more
than my words to spare.

I missed you dearly.
Oh, forgive me, please!
My pen belongs clearly
to these notebook's sheets.

I missed you dearly,
how would I have known?!
Poetry is clearly
where my soul belongs.
