Based On Us

I really don't know what makes a healthy relationship.

I do know what I have with you is healthy.

But I can't pinpoint exactly how or why .

Maybe it's the how you open the door for me every time you get the chance.

Or how you tighten your grip on me when we cross the street.

Or even how you always ask how my day was.

But it didn't answer the question.

So I took a different perspective.

What doesn't make a healthy relationship?

That was easy, I saw it everyday.

 Always crying.

 Always shouting.

 Always fighting.

 Never smiling.

 There was never proper communication.

There were always harshful words floating in the air.

The words "I love you" said with sad smiles.

You felt the sorrow and pain in the air.

So thick you can cut it with a knife.

 I stopped believing in love.

I swore to never fall in love.

 I was scared to love.

But that all changed when I met you.

It was fate when we met.

We were in each other's background.

Now you're the most important part of my story.

You filled the pages with happy light times.

Anyone can see how much I changed.

 I smile more often.

 Laugh more often.

 And sing more often.

When it came to you talk was cheap.

We spoke through simple actions and loving looks.

Whenever you hit me with sweet compliments.

You added confidence in every step I take.

I could be in the greatest place in the world.

But it wouldn't mean a thing without you next to me.

You bring the best out of me.

And it's because you love me this was possible.

And it's because I love you I am able to say these things.

Maybe if this wins, I'll show you what you made possible.

 If I don't, it's okay I'll still show you.

Because I want you to know what you made possible.

You're the reason I know what a healthy relationship is.

And it is to be in a state of pure happiness.
