Envy

See this Ghost that’s haunting me?

No, I thought not, for you can’t see

That truly, there is no need for envy…

Isn’t life hard enough without thinking

You want something too bad, you were never meant to be?

Why struggle and strive toward

A cause which is not your own?

‘Tis nobler this way, to be your own self

Than to walk in another’s well-worn footsteps

I hope you see then, that what I mean to say

Is don’t let our ties be broken this way…

Takes two to make it all work, well actually Three

But that’s not where this is headed, time to face reality

Isn’t life hard enough without thinking

You followed me too closely, made my same mistakes

And would then share in my pains and regrets?

Learn from my transgressions and the

Misguided footsteps I’ve trodden

Don’t let misperceptions get the best of you, or envy either

Me or my desires…

Guide your thoughts in other directions, chase

Dreams that are yours alone

Don’t wish to be me, I wouldn’t

Wish it on anyone, not even my enemies

And one more thing I have to say—

Never forget that each and every

Pain we endure only leaves us better off, so

Much stronger than we were before…
