Call Home

Listen to a thousand insults
to laugh a little longer, be alone
for awhile, let the sun shine in, when
someone opens the door to say hello
and you'll answer how are you with
a lie, but at least they wondered, and
just that one comment, about maybe
I love you, maybe they said it by saying
don't drink too much, stay alive for me,
and I'll fall asleep tonight and dream
about being in the basement of my
home, just to see your faces, and
I would never say this out loud,
no, I don't even think I said
goodbye to you, not really,
but I think I miss you.
