The Two I Could Never Be Without
I came into this world, not knowing much
As any child would as such
But there they stood, the duo strong
I'd rather call them Dad and Mom
Helped me take my first steps
Led me, helped me, no regrets
Wanted a boy and I was born
Loved me so much I could show no scorn
Dad, a firm but honest bloke
Mom, her soothing, loving stroke
Upon my head she left her kiss
Treated me as she could with all her bliss
Father had a heart of gold
It will never fade, even when old
I love them strongly with all my heart
And never, never could I part
If anything ever satiated my soul so much,
It will always be them to the touch
They helped me crawl in the morning, walk in the evening
Never insulting or demeaning
"Keep a trim, proper, sturdy look, " Father said,
"And make sure to raise your head."
I was soon a gentleman and still am today
I could never step away.
Mother hugged me, said her words,
"Patrick, if I had to leave, you'll know it hurts."
She always cried for those she loved
Because she was an angel from up above.
If I couldn't live without something, it would be
My parents, right next to me
