Society Killed the Teen

There was a girl

Her eyes were cold

Her heart was made of ice

She never said a single word

Never started a fight

At home she cried

Her actions showed more than her words could say

Her arms were covered in scars

She never told anyone the things she thought

She was scared of what they would think

So the yelling continued inside her head

She had no friends

She let no one in

She never wanted to scare anyone away

So she sat alone and ate alone

The bathroom was her only sanctuary

She cried in there and ate in there

No one ever asked her to sit with them

At night she sat in silence

The only noise was in her head

The voices yelled of her mistakes

They said she wasn’t worth it

So she sat and stared

She always feared of what she might do

There was a boy

His eyes were sad

His heart was made of embers

He saw this girl in her lonely world

He wanted to melt her ice-cold heart

He wanted to make her believe

This boy himself cried at night

The voices yelled in his head

He wanted to save her so she could save him

He wanted to have and to hold her

She wasn’t so easily won though

He fought for her for thirty days

Nights obviously included

She didn’t even see him

The voices inside were too hard to fight

He didn’t give up until she saw him stare

He didn’t say a word

It took him three months to get the courage

He finally told her the truth

He sent her a text saying he wanted to take her out

Too bad it was too late

That girl that day had made a plan

She said if one person smiled at her she wouldn’t do it

If one person smiled she wouldn’t go through

If one person said they cared

Ten minutes before that text was sent

Ten minutes before he said he cared

She had done what she wanted

Done what the voices said

She would never go to school again

There was a girl

Her eyes were coated in water

Her heart was made of glass

Society broke her heart

Teenagers coated her eyes in tears

So think before you speak

Because the words you say

The things you think are cleaver

The jokes you decide to play

Sometimes they cause somebody’s last day

She just wanted a smile

She never knew that she would end at the age of seventeen

She would be ten feet below

Her parents they cried

Her sister started drugs

Her brother couldn’t go to school for days

She was his only warrior

That boy from before

He never spoke again

He went through life just passing by

He didn’t love again

Society killed the teen
