end it

Off and on again
Turning over
falling under
a wave of
consciousness
They ask if she
is okay
Lips sealed
Eyes focused
on something other
than what can be seen
She has changed
Less than a smile
More than a whisper
Useless grasp
never reaching
far enough to
touch
There is something
deep and dark
inside of her
And it eats
takes away
her hope
And it scars
Leaves her
broken
She knows it
hurts them,
but at night
it hurts her
And she
hurts
herself.
