Not For Me

It swims around everyone's feet
waiting for them to fall in.
It casually climbs across their body
trying to break through their skin.

It sits and waits for a vulnerable moment,
then suddenly takes control.
The happiness will find its way
and fill their heart and soul.

But happiness does not wait for me
or swim around my feet.
My skin is bare and now I see that
happiness is not for me
