People Are Fools
Location
People are fools.
They do each other hurt,
And like my father once said,
"If the world were covered with gold
They'd kill each other over a handful of dirt."
People are fools.
People are fools.
They spend their lives struggling for success,
Thinking that here lies their happiness
And yet as life passes them by,
You wonder why they don't stop and think,
That even if they reach the sky,
There's not much room up on the brink.
People are fools.
People are fools.
Too many wait for love to come on bright and silvery wings,
Too many measure love itself on only material things.
So few realize that love is a thought, a feeling, an emotional thing.
Too few realize that it can't be bought,
No price to make your heart sing.
People are fools.
People are fools
And yet through it all it seems
Life would be void, an empty thing,
Without any hopes or dreams.
And so I say to you, although
At times the world seems cruel,
Do not despair, you're not alone,
You're just another fool.
