Days

I am a typical man,

When it comes to memorizing moments

I don’t remember the first laugh,

Though I will know when it’s not there

I can’t go without forgetting something,

But I won’t forget your smile

I may not have one favorite moment

Except that better ones have taken their place

So if you ask about the first laugh,

I will only look away in shyness

Or ask about your first roses,

I will only smile

Or of our first encounter,

I will only stare into your delicate eyes,

Where I feel good and lost

Then preach past your beautiful words and say,

“I don’t remember that day, but with you beside me,

Better days are to come.”
