Like Father, Like Son and Daughter

Location

They talk about college

As voluble as can be

"We just want to grow up and

We accept this with glee!"

You came with a warning label

All you think about is your life,

Your independence, you careers

And being some kind of wife.

Orientation is arising

"Will your parents be there, Jen?"

"No." She says bluntly

And now it all makes sense:

You practically raised your brother

You hate your parents plenty

To make your way in this world

Will be monetioned everyday until you're seventy

Neglected by Mom and Dad

Who never made a baseball game

On their deathbed you tell them that you're mad

And soon realize that you're the same way.
