Climb
Climbing
Stumbling
Stones fall into the churning ocean below
White waves crash into the cliffside
Yet she climbs on
Climbing
Struggling
Up the cliff she goes
Facing her fears
Never looking back
She climbs higher
The pelicans like specks on the horizon
The sea roaring below her
Yet she climbs on
Climbing
Stumbling
Exhausted, she reaches the peak
The Sun has drifted low in the sky
Birds call to each other as they fly past
But she's not done yet
She begins the descent
For she can't stay up there forever
Her burdens seem to grow heavier with each downward step
It is dark now
Climbing
Sliding down the incline
Scrapes and bruises appear on her pale arms
Her ankles twist with each new step,
Caving at the thought of returning to real life
The cold beach awaits her
Silent at the bottom of the cliff
Climbing
Falling
She lands softly on the sand
The cold and grit curve around her sweaty body
She breathes heavily
The dark sky closes in around her
She shivers against the eery moonlight
Walking
Plodding softly on the sand
She thinks to herself
Was it worth it?
She shakes her head
Yes
It is always worth the climb
