Intersectional Battle Cry
"Freedom for women!" they shout
These feminists few
But how can they not see that she's a feminist, too?
So many spaces are unsafe
black children are shot
little girls are raped
young women are beaten
bruised
battered
inside and out
The water hoses are turned on to peel black flesh off white bones
Women feel alone and silenced within their own homes
People say we must fight one fight at a time
one or the other
sexism or racism
the black fight or the woman's fight
But how can she separate her skin from her gender?
When only intersectionality can defend her?
Issues of oppression are intertwined
mixed
connected
suffocating
If you're searching for your battle cry, this is the call
We cannot address one without seeking justice for all
