Icarus, A little boy,
One day wished
For wings to fly.
Daedalus loved him,
Far too much
To tell him no.
So, made him
Out of metal things,
An airplane that gleams.
I boarded her heart.
Careful to follow the politics of comfort.
Too much weight on either side & We'll surely panic.
Tumbling down.
Spiraling out of control.
I packed light.
She screamed down from the heavens with the power of god beneath her wings“I will fear no evil, for God is with meI will fear no danger, for God is with me
Swimming through air
Floating then plunging
Through depths
Gliding over
Whispy vessels afloat
On nothingness
Effortless
I am just like an airplane
I sometimes encounter turbulence, but I push through
The weather behind me is forgiven and forgotten as I make my way towards blue skies
Bird, Alien?
Conspiracy, UFO?
Human?!
How long have humans been up there?
Just over a hundred years and its how safe?
The safest, you say?
I want to do that.
I'm sitting and I'm waiting
I'm just waiting
and there are people around me
whispering amongst themselves
as if everything is okay.
I cannot figure out
why they are here
Rushed out of school, without a clue in the world
Thousands of people died in the last half hour
Moms, dads, sons, and daughters..
I'm not one for cramped spaces.
Four walls and a floor feel more
like a handicap than a home,
but if touch is still a sense,
and my fingers tell me that it is,
then my nerves make focal points of compression.
