4:02 pm in the parking lot
my Father can smell the fear reeking from my jacket
with the three holes on the right sleeve
that resemble a smiley face
A mother's love
whether throughout times of sorrow,
or times of glory, is all but shallow.
A mother's love is a thunderstorm,
rumbling through a once peaceful sleep,
You have guided my steps and lit my way
Answers like petals on a blooming flower
In the depth of spring
You have showed me true strength
In the face of adversity
Even when that challenge comes from
Browns eyes, smiling dark brown eyes.
You swore to protect that smiling gleam in her eyes.
Working day in and day out, tiring yourself out ot bring food.
Yet, you had time to be there, to watch her grow and play.
From childhood to adulthood you’ve been with me.
I can not thank you enough for the sacrifices you’ve made, for our family.
Your wisdom, your guidance, your loving hand.
Has gotten me through times, unplanned.
A knock comes at my door
But I’m absorbed.
They ask to come back, reality calls
But I’m not ready to leave my nap; to fall
I’m absorbed in this fake reality
It’s a burning need
Tears stream with memory.
Reflections of joy sing.
The taste of salt reaches my lips.
Warmth radiates from my face.
A smile cracks with love.
I jump into his arms.
Warmth envelops me.
