What Poetry Has Taught Me

Dear Poetry, Do you see? There she goes that innocent girl, a rule follower and honest to a fault,
Poetry: noun too infinite for me to write one poem about its teachings  It can give the ocean a voice louder than its roars,  softer than its waves,  lets the burning fire stay  Burns the vacant heart away
Poetry has taught me That I am lucky to be free. I am lucky that I may speak, That I may sleep, That I may breathe.
Before, words were just that. Words. Now, these words can form something beautful, or sad Maybe even twice as bad It's all about meaning  Without it, it's all leaning I've learned how words matter
Poetry has taught me wit. Poetry has taught me thought. It is simply, yet diffically, a skill that cannot be bought. To understand it is to think, on another level of reality
Poetry has taught me not only to to look around But to really see the little details in life As time passes by The way the sun beams break through the clouds and give me hope
