Darling, dying Icarus
You were all I wanted.
I'm the moon, I'm the opposite
of all that you desired
I drift cold around the Earth
You said we'd get our passports You said we'd go to ParisYou said we'd live in New YorkYour dreams were too big for your skin.
I am home in the feelingof your skin against minenestled under blanketsas we lay there, side by sideOur touch--
The first thing I saw when I met you
Were your wings, held close behind
Tucked and folded, neatly hidden
A stifled source of pride.
I loved you for your wings,
Though I knew they would be your demise
